    Biography

    Dr. Amy Lindsey is an associate professor of psychology in the psychology department at Utica University in Utica, NY. She has an undergraduate degree in biology and a master’s degree in instruction and learning from the University of Pittsburgh. Her Ph.D. is in psychology from Vanderbilt University where she studied retinal regeneration and psychophysical measurement of visual behavior at the Vanderbilt University Vision Research Center. Her areas of expertise are visual behavior and psychophysics.

    Dr. Lindsey’s teaching interests include sensation and perception, research methods, psychobiology, evolutionary psychology, and theories of learning. Dr. Lindsey’s primary research interest is the assessment of sensory and motor function in central nervous system injury and disease. She has published research studies in peer-reviewed journals including Visual Neuroscience, Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair, Neurotoxicity Research, and Brain Research. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, and Association for Psychological Science. Dr. Lindsey is also a member of the Vision Science Society where she serves on the advisory board to the committee for diversity, equity, and inclusion in vision research.

    At Utica University she has served four years as chair of the psychology department and as a frequent board member on the American Association of University Professors. Dr. Lindsey is a reviewer for the Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness. In addition to teaching, research, and professional service, Dr. Lindsey is an elected member of the Utica Lions Club and a volunteer career mentor with the American Foundation for the Blind.
