The Mohawk Valley Consortium

Cross-registration is open only to full-time matriculated undergraduate and graduate students and full-time faculty or staff members within the member institutions of the Mohawk Valley College Consortium. Full time status for students is determined by their enrollment status at their home campus and does not include the credits of the cross-registered course. Only credit bearing courses are eligible under this program. Each member campus reserves the rights to restrict enrollment in certain courses.

Eligible students and staff may register for a maximum of one (1) course per academic term (fall and spring only). The requested course cannot be offered on the student's campus during the term of registration. The course must be applicable to the student's degree program, including free electives applicable to that program.

IMPORTANT:

Your "Home Institution" is the school where you are seeking your degree or are employed.
Your "Host Institution" is the school where you wish to take the class.

Instructions:

After a student has identified the course for which he/she wishes to cross-register, the student must obtain the signed approval of his/her program adviser on a Permission to Study form, which is available on the Registrar's FORMS page. This ensures that the course satisfies the student's program and credit-hour requirements. The student is responsible for making sure that he/she has met the pre-requisites of that course they wish to take.
Next, the student must obtain the signatures of their academic adviser and Dean of the home institution on the cross-registration form, available in the Registrar's Office.
Once the student's adviser and Dean have signed the cross-registration form, the student is to bring the form to their home institution Registrar to verify full-time matriculated status and that the course is unavailable at the home campus.
The student submits the cross-registration form to the Registrar at the host institution to register for the course. CROSS-REGISTERED STUDENTS ARE ADMITTED TO A COURSE ON A SPACE-AVAILABLE BASIS ONLY. Typically, available space will be determined on the first day of classes. Cross-registration forms will be honored prior to the end of the drop/add period of the host institution.
In general, the institutions in the consortium schedule have different starting and ending dates and vacations. The student is responsible for arranging to keep up with course work despite calendar disjunctions, and in some cases, must arrange for food and lodging when dormitories on the home campus are closed.
Students must adhere to the host institutions' policies for adding, dropping, withdrawing, incomplete grades, etc. All students taking a course on a campus other than their own must abide by all appropriate attendance regulations, honor systems, parking regulations and the like at the host institution.
Students may have to pay special fees such as parking, computer fees, activity fees, etc. which may be assessed by the host institution. Additionally, a cross-registrations fee may be charged by member institutions.
